Privacy Policy

The short version: We collect only what we need to run Owvio. We never sell your data. We never link to your bank. Your debt information is encrypted and visible only to you.

1. Who we are

Owvio ("we," "us," or "our") is a debt visualization and planning tool operated by Apurv Gedam, accessible at owvio.app. If you have questions about this policy, contact us at [email protected].

2. Information we collect

Information you provide directly:

Account information: Your email address and password when you create an account.
Debt information: Balances, interest rates, and minimum payments you manually enter. We never ask for account numbers, bank credentials, or routing numbers.
Payment information: Handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your credit card details.
Support communications: Any emails or messages you send to us.

Information collected automatically:

Basic usage analytics (pages visited, features used) to improve the product
Device type and browser for compatibility
IP address (used for security and fraud prevention only)

What we never collect:

Bank account numbers or routing numbers
Credit card numbers (handled by Stripe)
Social security numbers or government ID
Data from your bank or financial institution

3. How we use your information

To provide and operate the Owvio service
To calculate your debt payoff projections and freedom date
To power the AI insights and coaching features (your debt data is sent to Anthropic's Claude API — see Section 6)
To send you product updates and, if subscribed, weekly AI progress emails
To process your subscription payments via Stripe
To respond to your support requests
To improve the product based on usage patterns

4. Data storage and security

Your data is stored on Supabase infrastructure (PostgreSQL database hosted on AWS). We implement row-level security, which means your data is cryptographically accessible only to your own account. All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest.

No security system is perfect, but we take reasonable technical measures to protect your information and will notify you promptly if we become aware of a breach affecting your data.

5. How we share your information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share data only with the following service providers who help us operate Owvio:

Supabase — database and authentication hosting
Stripe — payment processing (they handle billing, we see only subscription status)
Anthropic — AI coaching features (your debt figures are sent to generate personalized insights; see Section 6)
Resend — transactional email delivery
Vercel / Cloudflare — hosting and content delivery

We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.

6. AI features and third-party AI processing

Owvio's AI coaching features (Smart Insights, Debt Coach, What-If Simulator) send your debt data — balances, interest rates, and payment information — to Anthropic's Claude API to generate personalized responses. This data is used only to generate your response and is subject to Anthropic's privacy policy. We do not send your name, email, or personally identifying information with these requests.

7. Cookies

We use essential cookies to keep you logged in and maintain your session. We do not use advertising cookies or tracking cookies for third-party ad targeting. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but doing so will prevent you from staying logged into Owvio.

8. Your rights

You have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you
Request correction of inaccurate data
Request deletion of your account and all associated data
Export your debt data at any time
Opt out of non-essential emails

To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.

9. Data retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will permanently delete your data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (e.g., billing records, which Stripe retains per their legal obligations).

10. Children's privacy

Owvio is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at [email protected].

11. Canadian users (PIPEDA)

If you are located in Canada, you have rights under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). You may request access to your personal information and correction of inaccuracies by contacting us at [email protected].

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or by posting a notice on Owvio. Continued use of Owvio after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
